The Sweet Meadow just turned four months old at the start of this week. It also dawned on me that it's been almost five months since I've received a regular wage. That's almost half a year! It's pretty funny considering I've never worked harder in my life and yet I've also never been as broke as I am now.
So we're about a month overdue but better late than never! Rather than a complete overhaul of our current menu, we are instead tweaking ingredients, prices and flavours to better suit a summer cuisine. Think lots of stone fruit, zucchinis, fresh herbs, tomatoes and sorbets.
This week Chef Phil and I were treated to a tour of the farm where we purchase our zucchini flowers, and when in season, avocados. Crossie's Cados is a business run by Andrew Crossman, located just outside of Torrumbarry, Victoria.
I should start with the positives first though. I have been so overwhelmed with the number of people who have visitedThe Sweet Meadow since we opened the cafe on October 20. I was having nightmares no one would show up, so to see lots of familiar faces 8 weeks in (some have been coming in since the first day we opened), makes me super happy.
